北韓第5次核試爆，大陸國關學者直言，在美韓部署薩德系統壓力下，北韓只能「以核換和」；北京高層當務之急應派出「特使團」前往南北韓，重啟談判契機，一併解決朝核與薩德問題。
外交部直屬智庫、中國國際問題研究院副院長郭憲綱說，美韓不顧中方反對，急於部署薩德系統，最終激化北韓「以核換和」，這責任不在中方，也絕非中方樂見。
郭憲綱強調，目前美日韓正研擬是要對北韓進一步制裁，從過去經驗看，只要聯合國安理會通過，且制裁不波及北韓民眾，大陸應不致反對。
「但制裁絕非當務之急」，郭憲綱直言，大陸當前應向南北韓分派「特使團」。一方面警告北韓，當前局勢下，大陸絕不可能片面相挺，告誡北韓勿輕舉妄動，讓大陸失去最後耐心；另方面，派特使赴首爾屏東英語 推薦 toeic多益題庫大全下載，直指應暫緩部署薩德，安撫北韓。
郭憲綱說，當前半島局勢已到一觸即發局勢，大陸若間接把握機會，分勸南北韓重回談判桌，既可進一步緩和朝鮮半島局勢，又可消除美韓部署薩德系統，不失一石二鳥。
中共中央黨校國際戰略所教授、朝鮮半島專家張璉瑰接受《澎湃新聞》訪問稱，北韓舉動為原本關係僵化的各國，提供坐下來談判動力，有可能成為中日韓改善關係契機，而大陸也可借此機會為薩德等問題解決創造條件。
不過，社科院美國所研究員沈文輝認為，北韓核試驗將使朝鮮半島局勢更緊張，韓、美與北韓間敵對將惡性循環，可能削弱南韓民眾對THAAD的反對聲浪，使南韓部署決心更堅定。
沈文輝說，朝鮮半島局勢再這樣發展下去，會產生「不可控情況」，也將拖累周邊國家；國際社會對北韓的進一步制裁，將使北韓經濟雪上加霜，面臨糧食短缺等人道災難，成為兩難。
